“It’s Getting Freakier!” – ‘Freaky Friday’ Sequel Gets a Title and First Look

‘Freakier Friday,’ the official title of the eagerly awaited follow-up to the acclaimed body-swap comedy ‘Freaky Friday’ from 2003, has fans agog. At Disney’s D23 fan gathering, stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan made a big surprise, which sent the audience into a frenzy.

A Reunion That’s “More Fun, More Emotional”

The charming couple, who portrayed Tess and Anna, a mother-daughter team in the first movie, expressed how excited they were to perform their beloved parts again. Curtis said, “It feels like no time has passed,” and Lohan said the sequel is “more fun, more emotional.” The couple also showed how much they cared for one another, with Lohan attributing their reunion to Curtis’s constant support alone.

An Initial View of the ‘Freakier’ Fun

The first pictures from the movie, which showed Tess and Anna in a convertible and mid-body-swap pandemonium, were released along with the title revelation. Curtis and Lohan hinted at a potentially even more intricate and humorous body-swap scenario by suggesting that both characters will go through parenthood again.

A Traverseful Path to ‘Freakier Friday’

Curtis and Lohan have both expressed a wish to return to their respective roles in the sequel, which has been in the works for years. Curtis recognized that the WGA strike had caused delays, but he confirmed the project in 2023. Now that the strike has ended, “Freakier Friday” is at last progressing, directed by Nisha Ganatra, who has directed comedies such as “Late Night” and “The High Note.”

Known Faces and New Arrivals

Rosalind Chao, Mark Harmon, and Chad Michael Murray are among the returning cast members. Along with returning cast members, the sequel stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan from “Never Have I Ever,” Julia Butters from “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” and Manny Jacinto from “The Good Place.”

A History of Enjoying Body-Swapping

“Freaky Friday,” which is based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel, has been adapted several times; the 1976 version starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris is considered a masterpiece in its own right. The 2003 version gained widespread recognition for its endearing message of empathy and compassion as well as its upbeat soundtrack. ‘Freakier Friday’ promises to provide viewers with more hilarious body-swapping situations and endearing family interactions.
