Even 007 Has “Brain Fog” Moments: Daniel Craig Forgets How Many Bond Films He’s Made

Recently, Daniel Craig—the actor who embodied the classic James Bond character with unadulterated intensity and vulnerability—had an unexpectedly personal moment. To the delight of fans, Craig briefly faltered when asked how many Bond movies he has starred in in a lighthearted conversation with fellow actor Drew Starkey.

This unplanned memory loss happened in the middle of a friendly interview. Craig’s response to Starkey’s benign question, “How many Bond films have you done?” was anything from cordial.  Hesitancy, stuttering, and even a need for assistance from Starkey created an image that was quite different from the slick secret agent he plays on TV.

Craig’s first predictions, which varied from three to five, served as a funny reminder that even someone who has been working on a project for 15 years can have a mental breakdown.  After a few friendly cues and some self-deprecating banter, Craig finally figured out the right response: five.

A Retrospection on Craig’s Bond Days:

The gritty remake Casino Royale (2006) marked the start of Craig’s Bond career, while the emotionally laden No Time to Die (2021) marked its conclusion.  His interpretation gave the famous spy more nuance and complexity while redefining the role for a contemporary audience.

  • Casino Royale (2006): A thrilling origin story that introduced a more rugged and vulnerable Bond.
  • Quantum of Solace (2008): A direct sequel exploring Bond’s quest for revenge.
  • Skyfall (2012): A critically acclaimed installment delving into Bond’s past and pushing him to his limits.
  • Spectre (2015): A return to classic Bond elements with the shadowy SPECTRE organization.
  • No Time to Die (2021): An action-packed and poignant finale to Craig’s Bond era.

Outside of Tuxedo:

Craig has demonstrated his versatility in a variety of roles, but his tenure as 007 is unquestionably his most well-known.  He never fails to enthrall viewers with a variety of difficult parts, from his critically lauded performance in Knives Out to his humorous appearance in Glass Onion.

A Super Spy’s Human Moment:

Daniel Craig’s little amnesia serves as a sweet reminder that we are all human, even the biggest celebrities.  He will always be remembered as one of the most influential James Bonds, and his work on the franchise will surely be honored for many years to come.
